Jobid=b6d3a1956a8a (0.0155)

Role Overview

As a CMM Metrology Specialist, you are the go‑to expert for all topics related to measurement accuracy, method development and metrology systems. You will play a key role in how our (semi) finished graphite products are measured, validated, and released — supporting both daily operations and the introduction of new products.

You will drive continuous improvement in measurement processes, ensure adherence to international standards, and support stakeholders across Operations, R&D, Product Development, and Quality departments. In this role, you will work closely with our CMM programmers and Product engineers, as well as the broader metrology department at Operations, to raise the metrology competency of the entire organization. You will also play a key role in developing a measurement strategy with continuous improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness in our product lifetime cycle (industrialization).

Key Responsibilities

  • Metrology Expertise & Process Ownership
    • Develop, validate, and maintain measurement guidelines, work instructions, and procedures.
    • Review and improve the use of CMM systems and other advanced measurement tools.
    • Support optimization of CMM programs and drive standardization across product families.
    • If needed act as the temporarily replacement the team leader at his/her absence, to support continuity in select daily activities.
  • Operational & Cross‑Functional Support
    • Train Quality Inspectors and Operators to improve measurement consistency and skill level.
    • Provide expert advice on measurement methods, equipment selection, and new technologies.
    • Collaborate with Engineering, Launch Team, and Production to resolve measurement‑related issues and support root‑cause analysis.
  • Systems, Calibration & Compliance
    • Perform and document calibrations according to ISO standards and internal requirements. Ensure metrology lab compliance to procedures and industry norms. Manage measurement data, conduct capability studies (MSA, GR&R), and analyze trends.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI)
    • Support NPIs (TRL, test phase) by defining measurement strategies and feasibility. Ensure measurement capability matches (tighter) tolerances and new material requirements.

Your Profile

You are a hands‑on, analytical professional with a strong drive for precision and process improvement. You enjoy spending time on the shop floor, observing processes, and identifying opportunities to increase quality and efficiency. Although you possess strong theoretical knowledge, you are pragmatic/results-oriented and have a clear ‘get-things-done’ mindset.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in mechanical engineering. Extensive expertise (>5 years) in metrology and measurement techniques. Proficiency in operating and programming metrology instruments (CMM, laser scanners, profilometers, etc.). Strong understanding of GD&T, measurement principles, and calibration methods. Experience with metrology software such as PC‑DMIS, Calypso, PIWEB, QDAS.
  • Constructive‑critical mindset with a substantiated opinion. Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple departments. Passion for continuous improvement, standardization, and quality excellence.
