Exide Technologies’ Energy Solutions division is developing and manufacturing stationary energy storage batteries, from backup power to large-scale storage systems. Exide´s technology portfolio spans from multiple lead-acid over to lithium-ion technologies supporting the global energy transition and digitalization.
For our Battery Energy Storage Systems business (BESS), which is providing Commercial & Industrial and large storage systems, we are looking for a
Commodity Manager for stationary battery systems & components (e.g. BESS Battery Energy Storage Systems) / (M/F/X).
For BESS, we specialize in solutions that serve a multitude of applications in utility-scale and commercial & industrial (C&I) sectors, including renewable energy, time shift, self-consumption, frequency control, peak shaving, fast charging, and energy trading. Our solutions are utilized for electric vehicle charging and renewable energy integration, both on- and off-grid, among others.
About the job:
The role is based in Helmond (The Netherlands).
Open to explore a relocation solution for skilled candidates based in Asia and who could be interested in moving to The Netherlands.
What will your daily responsibilities include in this role?
-Key interface between our Sales, R&D and Product management teams and the suppliers to pass on and discuss technical and customer requirements, this includes change management and technical definitions.
-Supplier Management: Manage our lithium-ion battery and electronic component suppliers (mainly based in Asia), and identify, evaluate and select new suppliers. Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement. Maintain actively strong relationships to ensure timely delivery and quality compliance, which includes travelling to the suppliers.
-Quality Assurance and Audits
-Close collaboration with Project Management: Oversee the entire procurement process, from initial supplier selection to final delivery of components to deliver our BESS projects in time and according to the specifications. Manage timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project completion.
-Transportation: Arrange transportation of components and products from Asia to Exide or customer premises, in close cooperation with the Asian suppliers
-Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies. —Monitor market trends and changes in regulations that could impact on the procurement process.
-Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of all procurement activities, including contracts, specifications, and quality reports.
-Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in lithium-ion battery technology and BESS.
-Point of contact for ESG/sustainability topics, collaborating with Corporate’s Procurement Sustainability team
What we ask for:
-Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus. Strong desire and eagerness to be deeply engaged in battery technologies on a technical and commercial level.
-Ideally understanding of the lithium-ion battery technology and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or willingness to gain this knowledge.
-Familiarity with technical specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements for technical products, ideally for BESS systems.
-Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with international suppliers and internal teams.
-Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, budgets, and resources.
-Native Chinese speaker, fluent in Chinese, with strong cultural familiarity with Asia. Fluent in English and with good IT skills
-Ability to travel to supplier locations as needed.
-Commitment to staying updated with the latest advancements in lithium-ion battery technology and BESS.
