The job:

VDL Enabling Transport Solutions is responsible for full vehicle electronic, electric, functional and software development in various domains in the automotive sector. We are looking for an automotive experienced systems architect to work on a new automotive platform for autonomous public transportation.

Do you have a deep understanding of automotive vehicle network, electronics, communications and software architecture, integration and solutions? Then you will be the end responsible for the technical aspect of our EV projects in a team of architects, leads and engineers. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful EV projects and an extensive experience in making decomposition of automotive functions, comms, hardware and systems. You should be adept at setting up and clarifying customer requirements, translate this in functional requirements, system requirements, electronic requirements and software requirements with the support of the team. You should be proficient in creating unambiguous and have a strong understanding of system complexity.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and clarify customer requirements, functional requirements, system requirements, electronic, network and communications requirements, and software requirements for AV’s and AGV’s;
  • Create high-level product breakdowns, architectures and comms integration on multiple projects;
  • Make decompositions of automotive vehicles and automotive solutions;
  • Understand, create and manage complex EE and EV architectures and systems, including communications and diagnostics protocols;
  • Collaborate with other discipline architects to ensure alignment and integration;
  • Be a rock in a team of architects and engineers;
  • Ensure successful realization of projects.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in software, electronics or automotive engineering or related field. A master’s degree is a plus;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a System/Comms/Network/SW Architect in the automotive industry;
  • Knowledge of autonomous driving and ADAS systems;
  • Excellent understanding of EE systems complexity and ability to manage it effectively;
  • Experience in selecting third-party systems for integration;
  • Ability to collaborate and align with other discipline architects and supplier architects;
  • As medior architect you must have the experience co-leading a team of engineers technically;
  • Ability to strike a balance between achieving results and maintaining high quality standards;
  • Proven track record in the successful realization of projects involving vehicle electrification, connected services and/or autonomous driving.
